Missouri Democrats Claim Victory Over Supreme Court Ruling

The Governor's office is claims victory after the Missouri Supreme Court rules against a law suit that could have halted education reforms in the state.

The Missouri Supreme Court decided Tuesday that while one clause of the excellence in education law is unconstitutional...the rest of the law can stand on it own.

Governor's spokesman, Chris Sifford calls the ruling a victory for Missouri's school children.

Sifford says the bill passed because of it's good ideas...But St. Louis House Republican, Todd Akin disagrees.

He claims Missouri Democrats promised a referendum on a 320-million dollar tax increase in the bill just to get votes...with no intention of ever letting the public decide.
