No Immigrant Welfare Ban for Missouri

The state of Missouri will not follow California's example to halt benefits to illegal immigrants. Ciprian Baltoiu has the story.

OutCue: SOC Earlier this week, California's Republican Governor Pete Wilson signed an executive order that directs all state agencies to halt benefits to illegal immigrants.

But Missouri's Democratic governor will not follow California's lead.

Mel Carnahan's spokesman is Chris Sifford. He says Missouri does NOT have a big problem with illegal immigrants.

Contents: Sifford says anytime an illegal immigrant is arrested in Missouri...they're usually just passing through the state on their way to a bigger city.

Sifford says there's no reason for Missouri to enact a law like the one in California.
