Missouri's legislature has picked one of it's own for a high-salaried legislative staff position. Phill Brooks has thee story from Jefferson City:
The legislature's joint committee on legislative research has selected the committee's own chairman for director of the office at a salary in excess of 60-thousand dollars a year.
The committee's vice chairman, Kansas City Senator Harry Wiggins, said he saw nothing wrong with the committee hiring its own chairman:
Wiggins presided over the closed-door meeting which selected south-east Missouri Democratic representative Don Prost to be director of legislative research.Getting the pay-raise will be Caruthersville Democrat Donald Prost.
He was hired as director of Legislative Research at closed-door meeting of the Joint Committee on Legislative Research. Prost chaired that committee. He told reporters that gave him the qualifications needed for the job:
Prost was selected over four other candidates. He begins his new job on the 13th of January at a salary of more than 68-thousand dollars.
As a legislator, he made nearly 27-thousand dollars.
