Carnahan releases recommendations on school violence

Governor Carnahan introduced two plans in an attempt to prevent instances of school violence like those witnessed in Littlleton from happening in Missouri. Farrah Fite has the story from Jefferson City.

The reports were issued by a specially appointed Task Force on School Violence. The reports discuss eight broad recommendations and a response plan for the over 2,000 Missouri public schools to follow.

Carnahan says the measures mentioned in the reports will increase the ability to survive school violence.

Governor Carnahan revealed a crisis plan today(Wednesday) that deals with cases of school violence similar to those that made public schools in Little Rock and Paducah infamous. Farrah Fite has the story from Jefferson City.

Carnahan introduced a workbook and disaster relief plan for the over 2,000 public schools in Missouri to follow Wednesday morning. The report was made by the specially appointed Governor's Task Force on School Violence. The report recommends eight broad measures that range from gun locks to criminal liability of parents to more school counselors.

Despite the recommendations encompassing the entire state, Carnahan says school districts still have the final decision on what measures should be taken.
