Senate Finance Hears Proposed Lambert Expansion

The chief lobbyist for St. Louis city appeared before the Senate Finance Committee Monday. Chris Pelikan has the story from the state capitol.

The issue before the committee is a House-passed bill that would block Bridgeton from using its zoning powers to stop Lambert Field's proposed 1-W-1 runway project.

St. Louis City Lobbyist Tom Villa told the committee the expansion project is the only way to keep Lambert competitive.

and allow for a new terminal to be built

Opponents, including representatives from the city of Bridgeton say 1-W1 is not the best future for Lambert. Instead, the group called for further research.

Officials from Bridgeton urged Missouri lawmakers to let the city keep its power to kill the controversial Lambert runway expansion project. Chris Pelikan has the story from Jefferson City.

Officials from the city of Bridgeton, including the mayor, testified at a Senate Finance Committee hearing on a House passed bill that would strip Bridgeton of its zoning powers over Lambert.

Bridgeton's Mayor Conrad Bauers argues the bill would affect more than just airport expansion.

But the lobbyist for St. Louis City told legislators that the proposed 1-W1 expansion is the only way to keep the city of St. Louis competitive.
