McCaskill gets mixed messages from party members

State Auditor Claire McCaskill is running for governor, and some legislators have offered their support. Ann Hynek has the story.

Governor Holden has competition from his own party for next year's primary.

Claire McCaskill made it official, announcing her run for governor at Hickman high school in Columbia, her alma mater.

If she defeats Holden next year for the democratic ticket and is elected, she will be Missouri's first female governor.

Representative Marsha Campbell says McCaskill is a great candidate.

Contents: Campbell says she thinks it's time for Missouri to have a female governor. She says that Claire has proven herself in her work as prosecutor in Kansas City and as State Auditor.

Campbell says that next year's primary will be an interesting one, because Governor Holden also has a lot of support.

With Claire McCaskill running against Governor Holden in the primaries, some legislators are disappointed with McCaskill's timing. Ann Hynek has the story.

Some democratic legislators say that Claire McCaskill's run for Governor comes at a bad time for Holden.

Senator Harry Kennedy considers both Holden and McCaskill friends, but he does not support McCaskill's decision.

Contents: Kennedy says Holden was dealt a bad deck of cards when he became governor, and with the poor economy, he did all he could. He says Holden didn't really get a chance to live up to his potential.
