Senate President Pro Tem Peter Kinder is accusing Gov. Holden of distorting his views on school consolidation.
Stephanie Hockridge has the story.
Sen. Peter Kinder released a statement saying the governor twisted his views on education.
In a Kansas City editorial published July 28, Holden wrote that Kinder supports closing local schools through forced consolidation.
Kinder says this is not true.
"I'M NOT CALLING HIM A LIAR. IT'S MAINLY OPERATIVES OF HIS WHO ARE RUNNING AROUND TAKING AN OFFHAND RESPONSE TO ONE REPORTER'S QUESTION AND MAKING A FEDERAL CASE OUT OF IT AND ALLEDGING THAT I AM A STRONG SUPPORTER OF SCHOOL CONSOLIDATION ACROSS OUR STATE, WHICH IS SIMPLY NOT THE CASE. I HAVE NEVER ADOPTED THAT POSITION."
But, Holden's spokeswomen Mary Still says that Kinder's just uncomfortable about being held accountable for his statements.
From the state Capitol, I'm Stephanie Hockridge.
