Thousands rallied at the state capitol today...urging Governor Holden and the legislature to put kids first by funding education. Erin Israel tells how many braved the weather so Missouri schools won't be left out in the cold.
NATS OF CHANTING
An estimated two-thousand educators and students chanted at the 2004 Kids First rally on the steps of the state capitol today.
Missouri School Board Association President Carol Lupardus said the rally was a true call for governmental action.
"ALL OF US ARE HERE TODAY FOR THE SAME REASON, TO SEND A MESSAGE TO OUR POLITICAL LEADERS AND TO THE PEOPLE OF THIS STATE THAT OUR KIDS MUST COME FIRST."
NATS OF APPLAUSE
Education advocates errupted in applause each time a speaker called for the solution...educational funding.
From the state capitol, I'm Erin Israel.
