State lawmakers are proposing legislation that will outlaw religious groups from wearing veils in drivers license photos. Monica Walter has more on this story from the capitol.
A key republican lawmaker in the Missouri house wants to make everyone show their face on their driver's license. Currently certain religious groups can choose not to.
California Rep. Larry Crawford sponsored the bill. He says this requirement doesn't violate religious freedom rights.
Crawford says members of religious groups can still opt out of having a picture on their license if they agree to have their whole face photographed for a digital database.
This bill is part of a larger transportation bill that is expected to be discussed in the house within the next few weeks.
From the state capital, I'm Monica Walter.
