Two bills passed today that Republicans say will bring more business to Missouri.

Business won two big victories today, scoring the passage of two bills that Republicans say will make Missouri more welcoming to businesses.

Ian Roth has more from the state Capitol.

Governor Matt Blunt will have the opportunity to fulfill two campaign promises when he signs the bills into law.

One of the bills would limit the types of injuries that qualify for workers compensation while the other places limits on awards from civil lawsuits.

Republican Representative Bryan Pratt thinks the bills will help Missouri compete with its neighbors in attracting businesses to the state.

Contents: "We need to do everything we can to bring new jobs to the State of Missouri. And the Workers' Compensation Bill is one step toward that goal. Because new jobs help us bring new taxes to the State of Missouri which allow us to provide a better quality of living."

Governor Blunt is expected to sign the bills after supporting both causes in his campaign last year.
