Rising gas prices have Missouri residents concerned, but adding ethanol to gasoline may provide a solution. Lacey Hanson has more from Jefferson City.
Governor Matt Blunt asked the U.S. Attorney General to investigate the wholesale oil industry in regards to increased fuel prices. Governor Blunt said gasoline with ethanol is a cheaper alternative for consumers.
"The situtation today makes the case that ethanol is cost effective and that the E-10 requirement that I intend to push next session of the Missouri General Assembly is a good way to reduce our dependancy on foreign oil and just reduce our dependancy on oil."
The E-10 requirement would mean gasoline companies would have to add 10% ethanol to fuel. Governor Blunt said ethanol would be less harmful to the environment, reduce gas prices and benefit Missouri farmers. From the state capital, I'm Lacey Hanson.
