Some motorcyclists might soon be able to leave their helmets at home... legally. Victor Roberto has more from the state Capitol.
The Missouri Senate Transportation Committee voted to pass a bill exempting motorcyclists 21 and older from wearing a helmet.
Senator John Cauthorn of Mexico, the bill's sponsor, says the law is a freedom issue.
It's an idea that's come of age. It's a responsibility issue on their part, but it is a freedom issue on their part, also. They have the freedom to ride without a helmet.
Cauthorn says the legislation could go into effect as early as August.
From the state Capitol, I'm Victor Roberto.

Missouri motorcyclists could soon be riding without helmets... legally.
Victor Roberto has more from the state Capitol.
The Missouri Senate Transportation Committee voted to pass a bill to allow motorcyclists 21 and older to ride without helmets.
But not all senators agree... Democratic Senator Joan Bray says the bill would make Missouri roads more dangerous.
If passed, the new law would go into effect as early as August.
From the state Capitol, I'm Victor Roberto.
