Rep. Rick Johnson wants state senate elections results recounted.

The state senate race in Jefferson County is still being disputed nearly two weeks after the election.

Jade Mingus has more from the state capitol.

Former Republican Representative Bill Alter was sworn in the state senate...but election results from Jefferson County have not been recounted.

Democratic Representative Rick Johnson ran against Alter in the senate race........Johnson lost by 68 votes and he wants a recount.

"Tomorrow or Wednesday I'm going to demand a hand recount of the 22,000 ballots."

A recount is automatic in Missouri if a candidate wins by less than one percent....

The Secretary of State's office has twenty days to recount the ballots from the 22nd senatorial district.

A Missouri senator was sworn in today.....but the election results still need to be recounted.....Jade Mingus has more from Jefferson City.

Democratic Representative Rick Johnson says he will ask the Secretary of State's office for a recount on the Jefferson county senate race, even though Bill Atler has already been sworn in.

Johnson lost the race to Atler by 68 votes.
