St. Louis County Democratic Senator Tim Green proposed a bill to eliminate something very near and dear to many senators health.
His bill would prohibit state legislators from receiving state health insurance.
He says lawmakers should find other means of health insurance and not take advantage of less fortunate Missourians.
During the proposal, St. Louis County Republican Senator John Loudon said he found irony in this bill... since Green had just proposed another bill stressing employer-based health insurance.

A St. Louis County senator is proposing a ban on state health insurance for state legislators.

Democratic Senator Tim Green told a senate committee that they should be stripped of their own state health insurance.
This proposal came moments after the same committee heard Green propose another bill stressing employer-based health insurance.

St. Louis County Senator Tim Green proposed a bill to the Senate Committee on Small Business, Insurance and Industrial Relations... that would prohibit legislators from receiving their state health insurance.
While some of the senators joked about that possibility, the opposing mood was apparent that when committee chairman St. Louis County Senator John Loudon called for witnesses...
If this bill does pass, state legislators would lose their state health insurance in 2006.
