Medicaid coverage would be restored to thousands of Missourians under a legislative package proposed by the House Democrats Monday.

The package includes one provision that would allow the state to opt of the clawback which requires states to pay for some the costs of the federal government's new prescription drug plan for the elderly.
Democrat Judy Baker said the state must fight back.
"We feel strongly that the federal government should not control or coerce state appropriations in this way."
Baker estimated that Missouri would save $90 million from refusing to turn over the money.
