Hundreds of thousands of illegal immigrants walked out of their jobs in protest Monday. Meanwhile, immigration reform in Missouri looks to punish businesses which hire those immigrants. Tim Walker has more from Jefferson City.
Missouri lawmakers are debating a series of immigration bills which could carry a heavy impact for businesses in Missouri.
St. Louis Republican Tim Green's bill would fine businesses ten dollars per day per undocumented worker.
Green says the fines are appropriate.
There are an estimated 50,000 illegal immigrants in Missouri.

Tim Walker has more from Jefferson City.
Republican Senator Bill Alter says he hasn't had time to keep up on massive worker walkouts.
Alter is proposing sweeping legislation aimed at cracking down on illegal immigrants AND the businesses which hire them. The new rules could have a negative effect on businesses but Alter says he isn't concerned.
There are currently seven different immigration bills awaiting a vote this session.
