Intro: MoHELA bill passes the Senate Chamber. Fanna (FAUNA) Haile-Selassie (HIGH-lay-sah-LAH-say) heard the arguments RunTime:

With a vote of twenty-three to eleven, the Senate voted to pass the MoHELA bill on to the House.

Several senators voiced opposition to the bill in a last minute effort to sway their colleagues to vote no.

Saint Louis democratic senator Rita Days was part of the opposition.

Description: I don't think there's any other way to say it, but it's pork at its best.  We should be ashamed that we are jeopardizing future students who want to go to college by this bill.


There were thirty-three rejected versions of the MoHELA bill before passing this one.

After many debates to get an acceptable MoHELA bill, it's now moving up.

The Senate passed the bill with a twenty-three to eleven vote.

Several senators, including the bill's sponsor, Gary Nodler, say this bill will be great for higher education.
