Intro: The Jackson County Board of Election Commissions is turning over suspected voter registration fraud to the FBI in Missouri

OutCue: SOC The Board of Election Commissions says the Association of Community Organizations for Reform Now (ACORN) is responsible for voter registration fraud in Independence Missouri. Director of Elections for Jackson County Board of Elections Commission Charlene Davis said they received several duplicate voter registrations. She said they also received registrations with non-existing addresses and unverifiable driver license and social security numbers.

Description: "They hire people.  They pay them.  They give them quotas, and the end result is they complete forms with fictitious names."
 
Regional Director for ACORN Jeff Ordower denies that ACORN is responsible for the error but also said that duplicate records were tied to dishonest employees who have been fired.
 
He said that ACORN is proactive in turning in suspected fraud.
 
A similar voter registration fraud investigation involving ACORN occurred in Las Vegas this week.

Regional Director for the Association of Community Organizations for Reform Now Jeff Ordower said ACORN is not responsible for the voter registration fraud in Independence, Missouri.

Ordower said in the past few weeks there have been eighty-five duplicate registrations and thirty-five questionable addresses, but attributes them to a small number of dishonest employees.

He said ACORN is proactive in turning in suspected voter registration fraud.

Description: "We have employees that we've had to fire, and we've had problematic cards that we have turned in and flagged as problematic.  We need to turn in all those cards because we can't be the final arbiter of what's problematic or what isn't."
 
Director of Elections for Jackson County Board of Election Commission Charlene Davis said ACORN hired people and paid them which resulted in forms with fictitious names. 
 
Davis said the fraudulent voter registration cards will be turned over to the FBI.
