Intro: Peter Kinder enters his second term as Lt. Governor in the only statewide seat that stayed "Red" in the November election.

Lt. Governor Peter Kinder is the only Republican to survive the statewide Democratic sweep in this year's election.

Republican House majority leader Representative Steven Tilley of Perryville, says Kinder will serve a vital role that will be much larger than Lt. Governor.

Tilley went on to say Kinder will look beyond party lines to do what is best for the state.

Kinder says he is fully prepared to work with the Democratic Party, and has experience breaking down boundaries and reaching across the aisle.

Kinder took over for Democrat Joe Maxwell when he won the seat in 2004, a very successful year for Republicans in statewide offices.

Tilley argues that although Kinder is the only Republican elected, the conservative base remains strong in Missouri.

Tilley says it won't matter if it is a Republican idea or a Democratic idea, it only matters what is best for Missourians.

Majority Caucus Chairman Senator Bill Stouffer of Napton says he agrees Kinder and Nixon will work together for the good of Missouri.

Description: It's time to govern and do what's best for the citizens of Missouri, and I'm sure everyone has that in mind and we'll move forward. Now we may not agree exactly what's best every time, but at least that should be our goal.

Stouffer says everyone is on "the same team", working to better the state and its citizens.

Kinder admits he is a "fierce competitor," but says the election is over, and it's now time to get down to business and work together.
