Fire safe cigarette bill perfected in the House

Intro: House members want to put out the number of house fires caused by cigarettes.

Allison Blood has more from the State Capitol.

Representatives gave bipartisan support to the bill which requires manufacturers to use different paper in wrapping tobacco.

This paper is designed to cause cigarettes to stop burning on its own.

Republican Representative Mark Bruns said thirty-six other states have adopted the same regulations.

There was no voiced opposition to the bill, though this is not the first year it has been introduced.
