The Senate perfected a bill governing teacher-student relations.

Date: April 12, 2010

State Capitol Bureau

Intro:  The Senate gave approval to a bill that might require some teachers to change their Facebooks.
RunTime:  0:50
OutCue:  SOC

Wrap: St. Louis County Republican Senator Jane Cunningham's bill would require school districts to create a written policy covering teacher-student communications.

Cunningham says one second grade teacher had a picture of her class in the same album as pictures from a kegger party.

Actuality:  CUNN3.WAV
Run Time:  00:13
Description: "That's what we are trying to stop. We don't want to stop networking between the teachers and students, but we want to make sure if we do, that we will have appropriate personnel from the school district, appropriate personnel to monitor."

The policy would require teachers to share all work-related websites with school administrators and student's parents.

Teachers would also not be allowed to give current or former students exclusive access to nonwork-related sites.

The bill will go before the Senate again before it can move to the House.
