Wrap: The Missouri School Improvement Program recommended this ruling after the school district failed to meet state progress and assessment standards since 2006.

Missouri Education Commissioner Chris Nicastro says she believes this decision will improve education reform across the state.

Wrap: The Missouri Board of Education voted unanimously Tuesday to strip the Kansas City school district of its accreditation. 

This means as of January 1st, two of the state's largest metropolitan areas will have unaccredited schools.

Missouri State Board of Education President Peter Herschend says he believes that the state needs to construct a better system to address failing districts.
