Wrap: The Missouri Veterans Commission reports it needs about 13 million dollars or it will run out of funding for its vet homes by July 2013.

Now the commission is asking state lawmakers to help fill the funding gap.

Public Safety Appropriations Chairman Chris Kelly and other members of the committee proposed several ideas to generate funding.

One idea is creating an option for gamblers at the slot machines where they can choose to donate spare change on their earnings to the commission.

Another would draw funding from the state's scratch lottery tickets.
