That's what members of Missourians to End Poverty are asking of their legislators.

They want to reduce poverty by improving health care, education, job creation and workers rights.

Elaine West is the executive director of Missourians for Community Action. She says poverty is a major problem.

Members signed petitions to raise the minimum wage and cap payday loans.

The attorney general's office says it will appeal Cole County circuit judge's decision to strike down a similar payday loan petition.

Wrap: Hundreds of Missourians and members of more than 25 organizations are asking legislators to end poverty.

They want to see improvements in health care, workers rights, education and job creation.

Pearl Burke is a grandmother from St. Louis living on social security, while caring for her three grandchildren.

She says she can't get enough food stamps.

Missourians to End Poverty say they would like to see the Senate restore funding to child care subsidies.

They are also encouraging people to sign two initiative petitions for minimum wage and payday loans.

They are asking legislators to increase the minimum wage, cap payday loans, and improve health care.

Bobbie Sykes works at Midtown Catholic Charities in St. Louis. She says she would like to see the Food Equity Bill passed.

The Food Equity bill would ensure that Missouri receive more Food Stamp dollars from the federal budget and allow food stamp eligibility for people with drug related convictions. The bill currently awaits House approval.
