Wrap: Senators debated the measure that would extend the waiting time before an abortion from 24 to 72 hours.

The bill handler, Sen. David Sater said he believes the measure will give women time to make an informed decision.

Actuality:  SATER1.WAV
Run Time:  00:12
Description: A woman should deserve the right to have all the information necessary to make the best, informed consent she can live with.

But St. Louis City Sen. Jamilah Nasheed said this was a stall tactic meant to coerce women out of their decision.

Wrap: Senators debated a measure that would extend the waiting period for an abortion from 24 to 72 hours.

The bill handler, Southwest Missouri Sen. David Sater said the measure would ensure that women have the right information to make an informed decision.

Democrats said this was an anti-abortion and anti-women bill that has always been presented by men.

Actuality:  NASHEED5.WAV
Run Time:  00:16
Description: Because basically what that man is saying, is that a woman cannot think for herself, so I'm going to help her with that. I'm going to make sure she waits 72 hours because she doesn't know how to choose.

Sater said this bill was not an anti-abortion bill because it would not prevent a woman from receiving an abortion.

Wrap: The senate debated a measure that would extend the waiting period for an abortion from 24 to 72 hours.

Democrats spoke in opposition to the bill saying it was an anti-abortion bill. But the bill's handler, David Sater came under harsh attack from Kansas City area Sen. Paul LeVota.

Actuality:  LEVOTA3.WAV
Run Time:  00:24
Description: How can you say this isn't an anti-abortion bill? It stalls out, for 72 hours. It has the premise in it that women cannot make the decision that's good for them, unless they wait 72 hours.

The Senate debate continued for hours.
