In the Senate, Democratic Senator Scott Sifton from St. Louis County lost his train of thought and mentioned the passing of Ellinger.
Ellinger was 72 when he lost his battle with lier cancer.

That was House Democratic Leader Representative Jacob Hummel from St. Louis City Wednesday morning making the announcement that Ellinger had passed away.
Lawmakers from both sides of the aisle have been sending their condolences to the family and talking about how respected he was within the Capitol.
Just last week, Governor Jay Nixon signed a bill into law which Ellinger sponsored.
