Minutes after the announcement, the Missouri Republican Party released a statement, saying in part, "Nicole Galloway is entirely beholden to Jay Nixon."
Galloway will take office during the week of April 27.

The Missouri Republican Party released a statement saying Governor Nixon put politics ahead of voters wishes when he appointed Galloway, a Democrat, to fill Republican Tom Schweich's term.
