Description:
Impose a sales tax on a vehicle or boat that is registered with the Revenue Department, regardless where the sale took place. Base the local sales tax on the purchaser's residence. The governor vetoed a similar bill, HB 1329, in 2012 that had been passed in response to a state Supreme Court decision striking down imposing a sales tax at the time of registration on vehicles sold privately or out of state.
