The Republicans nominated Sen. Peter Kinder, R-Cape Girardeau, for president pro tem with Sen. Bill Kinney, R-Lee's Summit, as floor leader. Sen. Betty Sims, R-St. Louis, would be assistant floor leader. Sen. Morris Westfall, R-Halfway, was elected caucus chairman and Sen. Anita Yeckel, R-St. Louis, becomes secretary.
Sen. Betty Sims, R-St. Louis County, sponsor of a similar Senate bill, said she wants to attach this legislation to another bill as an amendment. This will be difficult, she said, given the lack of safety bills this session.

"I think when we send our children to college we are still very concerned about them," said Betty Sims, R-St. Louis County. "After 18 years of caring for them we should be able to know what they are doing."
A fourth proposal, this one by Sen. Betty Sims, R-St. Louis County, would give food businesses a tax credit equal to the cost of vaccinating workers. Her purpose, she said "is to give small income employers the opportunity to pay for the vaccines, which are expensive."
Sen. Betty Sims, R-St. Louis County, expressed discontent with the open container portion of the bill, saying that a BAC level of .08 could be obtained by consuming things other than alcoholic beverages.
The bill, which makes drivers with .08 blood alcohol levels guilty of a misdemeanor crime, was opposed by Sen. Betty Sims, R-St. Louis County, and Mary Bland, D-Kansas City.
