An angry tone was directed at the governor by some of the senators who spoke at the press conference. Sen. Brian Nieves, R-Washington, said the "four horses of the Apocalypse" have extended the olive branch to the governor, and he has yet to respond to them.
"I'm afraid about making a student stay in a failing district... I would not want to be the parent in that district," said Sen. Brian Nieves, R-Washington.
The four senators are Sen. Jim Lembke, R-St. Louis, Sen. Rob Schaaf, R-St. Joseph, Sen. Will Kraus, R-Lee's Summit, and Sen. Brian Nieves, R-Washington.

Although the measure won easy voice-vote approval, Rep. Brian Nieves, R-Washington, questioned singling out a specific activity among the variety of things a driver can do that causes distraction.
