Rep. Bryan Pratt, R- Blue Springs, urged support for the measure, but lamented the loss of provisions which were contained in an earlier abortion bill he sponsored and was approved by the House earlier in the session.
Rep. Bryan Pratt, R-Blue Springs, said he opposed moving the bill to the full House because it is not strong enough in reigning in Gov. Jay Nixon and the executive branch. He said he wants language that would bar anyone who donates money to the governor from serving for him and also to create a long waiting period between legislators retiring and coming back to the Capitol as lobbyists.
"The governor can use kids as silly props today to try to boost his sagging poll numbers," House Speaker Pro Tem Bryan Pratt, R-Blue Springs, said, "but let's not get together and focus on what we can do to get more jobs in this state."
The bill passed by the House was a combination of two bills, one sponsored by Rep. Bryan Pratt, R-Jackson County and another sponsored by Rep. Cynthia Davis, R-O' Fallon.

He said the bad economy has made it a bad time to raise taxes, and that cities have broken the law by imposing stacked taxes depsite current state statutes.

House Speaker Pro-Tem Republican Bryan Pratt disagreed and said that if a criminal is convicted and is assigned to serve a prison term, then that criminal should serve a prison term.
