"At the end of the day," said Sen. Chuck Purgason, who carried Blunt's Medicaid cuts through the General Assembly. "Gov. Blunt takes in all the advice from his staff and makes the decisions."
Republican Senator Chuck Purgason's bill would cut thousands of Missourians off health care coverage like Columbia Medicaid recepient Bob Pund. Because of a car accident Pund has been in a wheelchair for more than 15 years, and he says the cuts go too far.
"What we are doing will not be politically popular," said Sen. Chuck Purgason (R-Caufield), the bill's sponsor. "Our Medicaid system cannot be fixed by new funding or one time fixes."
The debate, which included Sen. Chuck Purgason, R-Caulfield, comparing social welfare programs to the relegation of American Indians to reservations, immediately proceeded Senate passage of a bill that would cut the Medicaid rolls.
