The House amended and significantly altered the intent of what was a straight forward bill. The original Senate bill simply expanded the definition of HIV tests to include non-blood samples. But, the House stuck on an amendment allowing anyone to petition the court to require an AIDS test if they can demonstrate a potential exposure to the disease through medically known forms of tranmission. Craig Hosmer of Springfield is the sponsor of the amendment.
But according to the sponsor of the resolution, Rep. Craig Hosmer, D-Springfield, that's caused police to use the federal government's forfeiture law which allows police to keep 85 percent of the proceeds. The remaining 15 percent goes to the federal government.
Another bill, which is being worked on in a House committee, would also raise the mandatory school attendance age. But this bill, sponsored by Rep. Craig Hosmer, D-Springfield, seeks a stricter enforcement of the mandatory attendance by taking away the driver's licenses of dropouts.
