The Chair of the House Trafficking Committee and State Rep. 134 Elijah Haahr said the issue of human trafficking is an area the state government has not focused on in past years.

Representative Elijah Haahr, R-Springfield, is sponsoring a bill that would require Missouri high school students to take a civics exam similar to the test required of those who wish to become U.S. citizens in order to graduate.
The House Trafficking Committee chair -- Rep. Elijah Haahr, R-Springfield -- said the issue of human trafficking is an area the state government has not focused on in past years.
Two other bills -- one sponsored by Rep. Tony Dugger, R-Hartville and another sponsored by Rep. Elijah Haahr, R-Springfield -- would regulate the industry by creating uniform font sizes and require lenders to disclose certain information like the loan's interest rate.
"We have an HJR that gets together before the voters and we get them to actually weigh in on this issue." said Rep. Elijah Haahr, R-Springfield. "And what we have is a constitution, a state constitution, that we are trying to amend in order for us to do something that many other states have done around the country."
