Two legislators, Sen. Wes Shoemyer, D-Clarence, and Rep. Judy Baker, D-Columbia, have proposed bills that would restore Medicaid eligibility to those cut in 2005.
A bill introduced in the Missouri House Jan. 25 by Rep. Judy Baker, D-Columbia, would require Missouri high schools to offer driver's education to students. The bill would also prohibit younger drivers from using a cell phone on the road for any reason other than emergencies.
Representative Judy Baker, D-Columbia, said higher education should be more of a priority and the governor and the Budget Committee did not propose enough money to fund higher education.
Committee Member Judy Baker, D-Columbia, said she is opposed to Lembke's resolution, which would be subject to voter approval if it passes the legislature. "My position would be to support the constitutional amendment already ratified by the voters," Baker said.
"I'm not sure it's the right time to use funds for tax cuts," said Rep. Judy Baker, D-Columbia, who voted against the bill. "I would like to see us restore health care to people in poverty that we cut off two years ago."
The bill's sponsor Republican Representative Charles Portwood took a strong stance against an amendment proposed by Democrat Representative Judy Baker.
