Sen. Kevin Engler, R-Farmington, proposed handing control over to the Public Service Commission in a bill that would expand the provisions of the no-call list in order to appease the state House. According to Engler, many House members think Attorney General Jay Nixon will use the list's success to his own advantage.
Woodruff called the bill a "selfish" attempt by Republican and Democratic politicians to keep Independent candidates from holding office. But Republican Senator Kevin Engler says the bill holds independent politicians accountable for their campaign strategies.
"Can we only vote no on this once?" asked Sen. Kevin Engler, R-Farmington. "And if the Russian and Czech judges don't like you, can we throw their votes out?"

"For somebody that's going into a re-election campaign, it's no fun looking to the next year being gone every night much less have a little baby that you want to be away from every night, seven days a week, and you got to do that to campaign for governor," said Sen.
