Incoming Senate majority leader Mike Gibbons, R-St. Louis County, has filed a bill that would replace the progressive state income tax system with a single-rate tax.
But the rest of the Senate's leading members will be new to their positions. Republicans have nominated Sen. Mike Gibbons of St. Louis County to be majority floor leader.
Senate Republicans voted to keep Peter Kinder of Cape Girardeau as president pro tem and added Mike Gibbons of St. Louis County as majority floor leader.
Sens. Mike Gibbons of St. Louis County and Chuck Gross of St. Charles said they are interested in the position. Other returning Republican senators John Cauthorn of Mexico and John Loudon of St. Louis County say they haven't yet decided whether to run.
