Sen. Republican Floor Leader Mike Gibbons, who chairs the committee, says the state paid out approximately 300 million dollars in tax credits last year.
"We've been dealing with the same issues in different magnitudes since I came here in 1993, and we will continue to work on them until the problems are solved," said Senate Majority Leader Mike Gibbons, R-St. Louis County. "We will move the issues that we ran our campaigns on to get in the majority in the first place."

Gibbons cited the defeat of ballot issues in November and August to raise taxes on tobacco and gasoline as evidence that Missourians were in no mood to approve tax increases until state government reformed itself.
"I think it is important for us to take a position on every revenue idea that we can think of," said Sen. Mike Gibbons, R-St. Louis County, who sets the Senate debate schedule. "The appropriations committee has come to a position on the budget based on reality and we should deal with that first."
The leadership is also full of members who practice law when they are not serving in the legislature. Hanaway, Crowell, President Pro Tem of the Senate Peter Kinder, Senate Majority Leader Mike Gibbons and Senate Minority Leader Ken Jacob all have law degrees.
"They're probably going to find some horrific story out there that will probably be a great rhetorical device, and I'm sure that's what they're trying to find," said Senate GOP Leader Mike Gibbons, R-St. Louis County.
