Rep. Tim Flook, R-Liberty, has written a bill allowing students in public schools to take a ballroom dance class instead of a physical education or fine arts class.
The ballroom dancing idea initially had been raised in a separate bill sponsored by Rep. Tim Flook, R-Liberty. His bill would add ballroom dancing into the physical education curriculum in Missouri.
But most legislators weren't convinced of the benefits. Rep. Tim Flook, R-Liberty, said, "It's about a party, not about illness," and remained skeptical about how many patients actually would use a prescription of marijuana for legitimate medical reasons.
Unlike most bills that come up for votes, the outcome of this was not certain before the roll call. The bill had both bi-partisan support and opposition; four Democrats and one Republican on the committee voted in favor, with one Democrat and two Republicans voting no and another, Rep. Tim Flook, R-Liberty, not voting for or against.

The legislation co-sponsored by Reps. Tim Flook, R-Liberty, and Jason Kander, D-Kansas City, would make obstructing an ethics investigation a felony. Kander was the only speaker Tuesday to mention shamed former Sen. Jeff Smith, D-St. Louis, by name on Tuesday, when other officials referred to "the actions of a small few" as being the impetus for any ethics proposals.
