JEFFERSON CITY - Sen. Tim Green, D-St Louis, wants to make it easier for Missouri senior citzens to obtain a drivers' license under the new "show me proof" laws.
While Shields attempted to engineer a plan that would limit the number of gaming boats while increasing loss limits and the gross receipts taxes the boats must pay, a filibuster begun by Sen. John Loudon, R-St. Louis County, and continued by Sens. Victor Callahan, D-Jackson County, and Tim Green, D-St. Louis County, has made this idea seem doubtful.
Sen. Tim Green, D-St. Louis County, said the state bore some of the responsibility for tuition increases that threatened the financial future of the state by making it too expensive for even the middle classes.
"This bill is just too extreme," Sen. Tim Green, D-St. Louis County, said. "It's a blatant attack for an injured worker not to be compensated while injured. And hopefully, they will change their tune while it's debated through the House."

St. Louis Senators Tim Green, Maida Coleman -- herself a cosponsor of the name change bill -- Rita Days and Joan Bray held up proceedings by debating a series of amendments. They filled the time by complaining about the cuts to social services, like Medicaid, proposed in Blunt's budget.

Critics of the bill say it still does not address major problems in the system. One problem left unfixed, said Sen. Tim Green, D-St. Louis County, was that injured workers are waiting too long for their settlements. Many are forced to go on unemployment to pay the bills, which jeopardizes their settlement, he said.
The effectiveness of the talks is under dispute, and while Loudon said they were going "great," Sen. Tim Green, D-St. Louis County, expressed less enthusiasm.
"Once again we're blaming the increase in workers' comp rates on the injured worker," said Sen. Tim Green (D-St. Louis County). "We're doing a lot of sprucing up but we're not solving the problem."
