RunTime:  0:39
OutCue:  SOC

Wrap: The debate arose in the Senate General Laws Committee, on whether or not public hearings should be held to decide which schools will allow teachers to carry guns.

Senator Jason Holsman debated with Representative Doug Funderburk, on the importance of giving the public a voice in this major decision.

Actuality:  GUNS15-1.WAV
Run Time:  00:08
Description: "Don't you think that a parent has a right to voice their opinion on such a large decision of whether their child is going to be exposed to someone with a six-shooter on their hip?"

Funderburk said that public hearings would allow potential criminals to have input on which schools get to carry guns, but he said he is willing to work with Holsman to find a compromise.
